Syncing, Habit Heatmaps, Manual trackers and more
Monster update
A new update rolls out today which introduces syncing, heatmap habit trackers (with automatic backfill!), and a LOT of highly requested features. Let’s get into it.
Syncing
You can now go to settings and optionally make an account to sync your progress across your different iOS devices. All you have to do is click sign in with Apple or Google and boom you have an account. You don’t even need to give me your name.
Habit Heatmaps Habits Pro
Habit Heatmaps are incredibly motivating and insightful to see your progress over time. I personally kept up a 3 year Anki streak just because I didn’t want to break a habit heatmap. Anyway, you can place these on your home screen and lockscreen and they’ll update automatically every day.
Manual habits
You can now create manual habits and track them directly within Habits First. If you create a manual timer and set a goal for the day, say to study for 1 hour, it will show a countdown timer that automatically pauses when you leave the app or turn off your screen. I’ve been loving this feature and use it to keep up with my daily journaling habit.
More integrations
KOReader
joins Habits First! You can now download a plugin, install it on your
e-reader, and it syncs the progress to your Habits First. So now you can
do stuff like read 5 pages to unlock reddit.
Minor fixes & Improvements
There was quite literally hundreds of bugs fixed in this past update (thank you to everyone that submitted them!).
Here are a few notable ones
- App Timer calculation bug fixed
- Anki sometimes showing incorrect cards fixed
- You can now reset a password after it unlocks
- Screen Time, Health or Location showing connected when it wasn’t
- Improved Screen time loading to not have a flash and also to skip obviously utility apps
- App now supports older iOS versions (such as iOS 18), and even the iPhone mini.
- Improved the photos on App Store (I made them myself)
And after receiving some feedback I improved the user experience much more
- You can now stack location, time, and device conditions in the new block page. (I’m also working on a more user friendly new block page which should be out in the next version)
- Removed all pop ups (the only one is “Unlocked!”), and replaced them with in-app banners that you can dismiss or ignore.
- Stopped requiring you connect to anything when you onboard the app (It’ll just give you a warning later)
- Made the welcome screen MUCH simpler, with only 3 pages, and one sentence per page. (After I watched my friend sign up and he just skipped through everything without reading it lol)
- There’s a advanced settings page where you can customize many aspects of the app.
- There’s also a way to now directly give me feedback within the app. Simply scroll to the bottom of the settings page and you can send me a message

Lastly, just wanted to say thank you again to everyone who decided to try out the app and give me feedback. And especially to those who gave a 5 star review in the App Store.
I’ve been working literally from the moment I wake up to the moment I sleep and it’s been a blast. I know for a fact that this can be the best, most feature complete, accessible screen time app out there and I’m not going to stop until it is.
Also, for those of you guys waiting on Android - it’s nearly ready. It’ll be up on the Google Play Store within the next 1-2 weeks, and it will sync with your iOS devices.
Let’s get it 🤝
